Yesterday as Turkey Day began, another tradition was upheld: for over 100 years the Marblehead Magicians have played Swampscott's Big Blue on Thanksgiving to a massive crowd; but this year it was different. This year they were playing for a spot in the playoffs and the title of NEC Champions. Led by Captains Will Quigley, Oliver Gregory, Honorary Captain Chris Piper and Headlight's Own Sports Editor Joel Katz the Magicians won the game 21-7. The crowd was energized throughout with Quigley's two touchdown runs and quarterback Ian Maag's other touchdown. The marching band played the Star Spangled Banner for the opening with Swampscott's marching band (Marblehead was led by Band Teacher Ken Warren) and were then led by Headlight's own Danny Plunkett for halftime.
Congratulations to the Magicians, NEC Champions!
