I can now say from personal experience that "Throughly Modern Millie" is an amazing show. Having seen it last night at the Performing Arts Center, I was amazed by the talented cast who managed to add humor to an already stellar show. The singing was superb and the band (led by Ms. Amanda Roeder) was fabulous. Directed by Mr. Steve Black with stage crew led Mr. Greg Dana and choreography by Lara Finn the show is a delight.
Telling the story of a modern girl named Millie (Elizabeth Jancsy) who travels to New York to peruse her dreams of marrying a wealthy businessman only to meet Jimmy Smith (Jacob Sundlie) who falls in love with her. Also present is the famed singer Muzzy Van Hossmere (Jen Taranto) and the devious hotel manager Mrs. Meers (James Zissulis). The cast does a wonderful job making their characters funny and entertaining while the crew (led by Production Stage Manager Max Levine) does a perfect job with lighting (Mary Kauffman) and staging.
If only it were playing for another week...
